Substance Abuse Assessment (SAP)

DOT SAP Services
In regards to safety, the Department of Transportation (DOT) is charged to prevent alcohol and other controlled substance abusers from performing transportation safety  sensitive functions. To assist in the process, the substance abuse professional (SAP) (see See DOT SAP Guidelines for more information) is designated to evaluate employees who have violated a DOT drug and alcohol program and makes recommendations regarding education, treatment, follow-up testing and aftercare. 

Measures4Success has experience in providing DOT-related services to a broad range of organizations in the transportation and other industries in the public and private sectors. We offer SAP services to companies under contract and to individuals in the community on a fee-for-service basis. Some DOT services may be provided as part of an EAP contract. Measures4Success provides SAP evaluations, mandatory training for Supervisors and Employees, program consultation and policy/procedure development.

The Department of transportation, under 49 CFR Part 40, (http://www.dot.gov/ost/dapc/NEW_DOCS/part40.html?proc) requires that employers, including Owner Operators, test Safety Sensitive employees for alcohol and drugs.
 
Our clients can expect the following SAP services:
    • Initial face-to-face assessment and clinical evaluation and recommendations
    • Referral to service provider
    • Tracking of compliance and report progress to employer
    • Follow-up Evaluation to determine compliance and return to safety sensitive position
